If you need seven or eight seats after you land, that is a 130 conversation — including the 2025 D300 HSE — not a Q7 conversation. 4WD is the sensible choice on these roads in any month. Wet alpine passes, a greasy Crown Range, ski access with chains or AutoSocks — a Defender is built for that week. A road-biased SUV can do a dry highway; that is not the same job.
The rate is not the product
A Q7 class can look cheaper than a Defender on a given day, and that can reverse, because a cheaper headline is often a different car, a class instead of a model, and cover that is not the same package.
